The Full Story
Raised in Canada after immigrating from Venezuela with her family, Alma Solano (nee Ana-Paola Solano Mejias) has always been deeply connected to music and the arts.
Alma started her singing journey with no formal instruction and learned by imitating her favorite artists such as Freddie Mercury and Aretha Franklin. She started writing her own songs and developing her own sound while staying surrounded by other artistic endeavors in her childhood. She grew up playing the violin with The Hammond Suzuki Studio in Ottawa, as well as participating in musical theater performances in the community, leading youth orchestras as her studio's concert master, and starring in dance performances with KBS Dance in Ottawa.
Currently, she is a Music Business & Music Production and Engineering double major at Berklee College of Music. She is there on the Berklee World Tour Scholarship.
At school, Alma formed her band, “The Soulmates,” a dynamic collective of like-minded musicians who share her vision for redefining pop/rock as a genre. Together, Alma Solano and The Soulmates are captivating audiences across Boston and are hard at work on their highly anticipated debut album, “Love Lessons”—a journey of heartbreak, growth, and self-discovery, penned entirely by Alma Solano herself.
